Cumulative Incidence

Incidence is defined as the number of individuals who fall ill with a certain disease during a defined time period, divided by the total population. In most instances, incidence is calculated from clinical cases, but by following people with serological test it is possible to detect the subclinical cases, and thus to obtain an incidence figure for the true number of infections.
